The story
Way before Bootstrap 3.4 added its own modal stack, jschr wrote bootstrap-modal as the first "actually responsive Bootstrap modal" extension. It supported iframe content, AJAX-loaded content, multiple stacked modals, and the responsive sizing that Bootstrap's built-in modal didn't have until 2017. The repo went quiet in 2019 with 4.9k stars and ~40k npm installs/week. If you're stuck on Bootstrap 3 (and there are still many teams stuck on Bootstrap 3), this is still the modal to use. The maintainer is no longer at the company that originally published it. The code is solid; the tests pass; the docs are good. Just nobody's home.
