Terms of service

1. The service

BreakPoint is a platform for the second-chance economy. We help people drop abandoned projects, find them new maintainers, and route them to the people who care. The free tier includes the public feed, the /audit tool, the newsletter, and the adoption board. The Pro ($99/mo) and Team ($499/mo) tiers add continuous monitoring, alerts, handoff matching, and multi-org support.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to use BreakPoint.
• You're responsible for your account and any activity under it.
• Don't impersonate real people (use a real email you control).
• One account per person. No multi-account abuse, no bots.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Submit GitHub orgs you don't own or aren't authorized to audit
• Use the call-request form for spam, sales pitches, or anything unrelated to a project audit
• Scrape, mirror, or systematically copy BreakPoint content without permission
• Attempt to bypass rate limits, access controls, or any security feature
• Submit projects that aren't yours (i.e. don't pretend to be the original creator of someone else's project)
• Use the platform to harass, scam, or harm other users

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you submit (project stories, comments, etc.). You grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to display it on BreakPoint, in emails we send you, and in aggregated statistics (anonymized, no personal info).

If you drop a project, you confirm you have the right to do so. If you adopt a project, the original creator's license terms govern what you can do with it.

5. Paid plans (Pro and Team)

• Pro is $99/month or $990/year. Team is $499/month or $4,990/year.
• Annual plans are invoiced once and are non-refundable after the first 30 days (see refund policy below).
• Monthly plans are billed monthly and you can cancel any time. We don't pro-rate refunds for partial months.
• You can upgrade from Pro to Team any time. We pro-rate the difference.
• Prices may change with 30 days notice. Existing subscriptions keep their current price until renewal.
• Failed payments retry for 7 days, then the subscription is paused (your data is kept for 90 days, then deleted).

6. 30-day refund policy

If you're not satisfied with a paid plan, email [email protected] within 30 days of your first charge and we'll refund the full amount, no questions asked. After 30 days, no refunds.

7. No warranty

BreakPoint is provided "as is." We do our best to keep it accurate and running, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service, perfect audit accuracy, or any specific business outcome from using the platform. Use it at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of BreakPoint is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

9. Changes to these terms

We'll update the "Last updated" date when we change these terms. For significant changes (anything that broadens what we restrict or what we can do with your content), we'll email active users at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
