jquery-modal

jquery-modal is what its name says: the simplest possible jQuery modal. 1.6kb minified+gzipped. Open, close, AJAX content, iframe content, confirm dialog. That's it. No CSS framework, no theme system, no animations. You bring the CSS, you bring the layout. Kyle Fox built it because every other modal was 20kb and over-featured. The repo went quiet in 2018. It's still on the maintainers-wanted list. If you need a jQuery modal in 2026, this is still the cleanest option. A rescue would either maintain it as-is (zero code work, just answer issues) or modernize it to vanilla JS (drop the jQuery dep, gain another 1kb).
