The story
Kue is what Bull.js is "based on." It's a Redis-backed job queue with a built-in web UI, delayed jobs, retries with backoff, and event hooks. The original Automattic repo is a ghost town — last meaningful commit was 2018 — but the npm package `kue` still gets ~100k downloads/week because the API is good. The maintainers moved on to BullMQ (which is a from-scratch rewrite, also by the same team at Taskforce.sh). The problem with adopting Kue today: Redis 7 deprecated the commands it uses, and ESM support is a 200-line PR that nobody's merging. The README has had a "looking for a new maintainer" line for 4 years. Worth a rescue if someone wants to fix the Redis 7 issue and ship ESM.
