Peerflix

Peerflix is the streaming torrent client that made watching torrents as easy as opening a file. Mathias Buus (mafintosh) built it as a thin wrapper around the torrent protocol with first-class piping into VLC, MPV, and AirPlay. It hit 6k+ stars and was THE way people watched video torrents on a server. mafintosh moved on to other protocols (hypercore, hyperdrive) and Peerflix hasn't had a release since v0.39 in 2017. The CLI still works on Node 14+, but newer ffmpeg versions have started to break the AC3 passthrough. The community is split between forking it and switching to webtorrent-cli (which Mathias also wrote and which is still maintained).
